10 acrobats from the Circa company take us on a moving journey that questions what it means to be human. How do our bodies, our relationships with others and our aspirations make us who we are? On a bare stage, the ten circus artists perform one feat after another without catching their breath, pushing their physical limits to the extreme and committing all their strength to the fight. In doing so, they question the limits of the human being. How much weight can man bear? Who can we trust to help us carry our burdens? They lead us to look at our own lives, the problems we face and the strength needed to overcome them. Created by Yaron Lifschitz, this show is a fabulous combination of acrobatic performance and contemporary dance, Humans revitalizes our vision of the circus!
From Brisbane, Australia, comes a bold new vision of contemporary circus. Since 2006, Circa has performed in over 40 countries around the 6 continents. Circa is a major company in the world circus landscape. With the support of the Australian Government through the Australia Council and its Arts Fund, the Australian Government through the Ministry for the Arts’ Catalyst (Australian Arts and Culture Fund) and the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Co-produced by MA scène nationale – Pays de Montbéliard.
Ten bodies appear in a flash of light. They move in harmony for a fleeting moment and then descend into a sinuous trance. Towers grow and decay, bodies leap and are caught, as physical limits are pushed to their extreme. Can we ever find a perfect balance or is adapting to constant change the only way forward?
This next chapter of Circa’s internationally acclaimed Humans is a tightly woven choreography of bodies, pulsing with music by composer Ori Lichtik and revealed in Paul Jackson’s dramatic lighting. Created by circus visionary Yaron Lifschitz, Humans 2.0 is intimate, primal and deeply engaged with the challenge of being human.
Ten acrobats from the Circa ensemble bring Stravinsky’s seminal The Rite of Spring to the circus stage. Pulsating with tension and infused with dark humour, this distinctive production from Artistic Director Yaron Lifschitz confronts humanity’s inter-connectivity, our inherent sexual desire and relationship with divinity. Featuring a piercing lighting design by Veronique Benett and a stirring new composition by Phillippe Bachman for the first half, Sacre penetrates the senses and stirs the soul.
