Puisque tout passe, Hossein Valamanesh
- Art exhibitions
- Paris
Puisque tout passe is the first solo exhibition in Europe by the Australian artist of Iranian origin Hossein Valamanesh.
A large selection of works from the 1980s through to today reveal this major artist’s unique approach. Through the prism of different media and with great freedom of spirit, Valamanesh explores various themes which embrace both the intimate and the universal.
Inspired by Sufi spirituality, notably the writing of Persian poet Djalâl ad-Dîn Rûmî (13th century) as well as the founding principles of Australian Indigenous art, with apparent simplicity Hossein Valamanesh addresses issues of nature, love, death, the experience of exile and cultural heritage. His work has surrealist undertones, is sometimes playful, always poetic, and is offered to the visitor like a riddle to be solved.
A multidisciplinary program including lectures, films, performing arts and activities for young audiences, echoes the artist’s universe and accompanies the exhibition.
