The International Festival of Extraordinary Textiles
For its 10th edition, Imagine!, the International Festival of Extraordinary Textiles (FITE) takes Australia to Clermont Ferrand, with a major piece by artist Peter Tjutjatja Taylor. The garment – entitled ‘Rainbow Valley’ – will feature in Imagine!, the festival’s main exhibition at the Musée Bargoin, while other work from various Indigenous Australian art centres and cooperatives will be displayed at the festival’s Creator Market.
Under the patronage of Spanish actress Rossy de Palma, the festival focuses on textiles of cultural significance, with work from Lithuania, Senegal, Portugal, the Philippines and Australia on display in venues throughout Clerment Ferrand and the region. The main exhibition, ‘Imagine!’ will be on show at the Bargoin Museum until March 2023.
Australia at FITE is organised in collaboration with IDAIA, the Iltja Ntjarra artists’ cooperative and the Garance Primat Collection.
