SJMC Conferences: Australian soldiers who died after the Armistice
- Conference
“I am sorry darling, but I won’t be coming home”
This Remembrance Day, join us at the Sir John Monash Centre for our first in-house conference and hear about the Australian men who served during the First World War and were the last to fall, after the guns fell silent on the Western France.
The in-house conference in French will be held on Thursday 11 November 2021 at 3.30pm with historian Sylvestre Bresson in the Patrick Simon AO room.
If you are interested in attending the in-house conference, please contact the Sir John Monash Centre at: info@sjmc.gov.au
The SJMC is pleased to also invite those who cannot make the trip to the Centre to follow the conference in English on the Sunday following Remembrance Day.
The online conference in English will be held on Sunday 14 November 2021 at 9.30am (Paris) / 7.30pm (Canberra) / 8.30am (London) with historian Peter Smith.
The speakers will take you on a historical, educational, and emotional journey through the stories of the Australians who served on the Western France and lived through the First World War only to fall shortly after the Armistice, never making it home.
Each conference will be followed by a Question-and-Answer session with the speaker.
Both conferences are free of charge and places are limited.
